Colonies 10-12cm. Boulder shaped with smooth surface, sometimes with slight bumps or hillocks. Corallites tiny, shallow and hexagonal. Polyps tiny, body column short. Colours brown, beige, yellow, green, bluish. Commonly seen on our shores. Colonies 10-12cm, boulder-shaped or encrusting. Polyps (0.5-1cm in diameter), 24 tentacles, short body column (0.5-1cm). Corallites circular or hexagonal. Colours seen include purple, pink, greenish, yellow and brown. Commonly seen on our Southern shores. Colonies 10-20cm, irregular boulder-shaped. Corallites with tall, thin, shared walls that form irregular, hexagonal cells. Colours brown, green, blue and purple, usually in pastel shades. Commonly seen on our Southern shores.

Colonies 10-15cm, boulder-shaped. Corallites with shared walls that form hexagonal cells. The walls have large 'teeth'. Colours blue, sometimes brown. Seen on some of our shores.
