February: World Wetlands Day

March: Earth Day
is celebrated at the United Nations each year on the first day of Spring (also called the Spring Equinox). More details on the official Earth Day site.

There is some confusing info though about when Earth Day should be:
Earth Day is NOT 22 April
Earth Day is 22 April

22 March: World Day for Water since 2000

April: Ubin Day by the Green Volunteer Network with participation of other environmental groups. More details of 2003 Ubin Day.

April: Singapore Green Transport Day

second Saturday in May: International Migratory Bird Day started in 1993 by visionaries at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center and the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. Now under the direction of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

22 May: International Day for Biological Diversity since 2002 (formerly December 29, changed in 2001)

5 Jun: World Environment Day by the United Nations based on a theme for the year, since 1974. The theme for 2007 is "Melting Ice – a Hot Topic?" in support of International Polar Year More details for 2007 World Environment Day events. Since 2004, the Singapore Green Plan 2012 (SGP 2012) Award is awarded in June. See also wikipedia enty

8 June: World Ocean Day stared in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro - although not yet officially designated by the United Nations

August: Clean up the World. Started in Australia in 1990 and launched globally through in the UNEP in 1993. Singapore is participating in it for the first time in 2003 through the Singapore Environmental Council. More details.

16 Sep: International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer since 1998

September: International Coastal Clean up

September: Singapore Recycling Day


4 Oct: World Animal Day Animal welfare groups, sanctuaries and individuals throughout the world hold special events to heighten public awareness of animal issues and to encourage people to think about how we as humans relate to animals.

21 Oct: International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction

November: Clean and Green Week by the Ministry of Environment. Started in Nov 90, this annual week-long event is based on a different theme each year to raise public awareness on environmental issues. Activities organised include mass-participation events, exhibitions and talks. During this time, the Green Leaf Award is also presented to Singaporeans for promoting environmental awareness. There are 3 categories: organisations, youth and individuals. More details. In 2004, the Green Leaf Award was replaced by the Singapore Green Plan 2012 (SGP 2012) Award to be issued in June. Nature Day by the Nature Society (Singapore). First held in Oct 87, this event includes exhibitions by NSS and other environmental groups usually stretched over a few days and held at a major shopping centre.
