Nature activities and events happening this week 17-23 Sep 07 22 Sep (Sat): Exploring the Kallang River, Part I for NSS members only With Shawn Lum and the Plant Group. The Kallang River is one of Singapore's best known water courses. Join us in exploring part of this fascinating river system and follow its course through Bishan Park. Plant life may be minimal today, but what did this area look like before and what could it look like in the future? How are we influencing the face of our river systems? These and other questions will be explored at this walk. Time: Meet at 9.30am at the Lower Peirce Reservoir Park Carpark. Sep(Sat): Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve free guided walkYou'll see the fabulous plants and animals of the mangroves and freshwater wetlands. Besides the abundant bird life, there is also other fascinating wildlife in the Reserve. more Time: 9.30 am and 3.30pm for walk in guests, register at the Visitor Centre. Those coming with large groups are advised to pre-register. Tour duration: one to one and a half hours. Easy trails, some suitable for young children. Sep (Sat): Free Evolution Garden Tour, Singapore Botanic GardensJourney through time with our volunteer guides in this one-hour tour. Bizarre plants, bubbling pools of hot lava and lots of other things you wouldn't expect to see in a botanic garden! Time: 9am, register at Visitor Centre Time. Register 15 minutes before the tour.
