9 Sep (Sat)-19 Sep (Tue): UNEP "Focus on Your World" Environment Photographic Exhibition

Eco 4 the World Foundation brings theUnited Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) "Focus on Your World" Photographic Exhibition to Singapore which was created to increase global public awareness of environmental issues through the power of visual images. This exhibition is a part of the 'Passage of Hope' programme.

9 Sep (Sun) and 16 Sep (Sun): The Toddycats, volunteers from the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research, will be at the event to showcase Singapore's biodiversity and share with you what you can do for our wild places.


Time: 10am to 9pm

23 Sep (Sat): Birdwatching at Pulau Semakau
for NSS members only

This is a good time to visit Semakau for migratory birds and migrant surprises. Wing Chong leads the walk to observe resident attractions such as the Great-billed Heron, Pacific Reef Egret, Malaysian Plover, etc. Sightings are possible of rare migrants such as the Chinese Egret, Ashy Drongo, etc.


Time: 7.30am, meet at the West Coast Pier (near Republic of Singapore Yacht Club.) Back to the mainland by 2pm.There is free parking at Carpark 2 off the West Coast Highway.
Cost: Non-refundable $25 fee for boat and administration charge. Send your cheque to the NSS office by 15 September with the All Purpose Form. Number of persons for trip: 11 or 22 or 33. Call Wing Chong to book — tel: 9100-3546.
Note: Identity card or passport is mandatory for boarding. Strictly for members only, on a first-come, first-served basis. Children under 12 are not allowed (NEA regulation). Please note that your reservation is not automatically confirmed until you hear from the trip leader after the closing date.

23 Sep (Sat): Jalan Kayu to Khatib Bongsu Ramble
for NSS members only

The Nature Ramblers, led by Tang Peck Chan brings you on this 9-kilometre, 4-hour ramble. Enjoy a walk along a country road on the fringe of Seletar Airbase, appreciate a scenic view of Lower Seletar Reservoir and the Johor Straits, and see some interesting birds in the mangrove swamps of Khatib Bongsu. The ramble ends at Yishun Ave 6. Booking not required.


Time: 7.30am, meet at bus-stop outside Seletar Airbase entrance, Jalan Kayu (near Epiphany Church).

23 Sep (Sat): Free Evolution Garden Tour, Singapore Botanic Gardens

Journey through time with our volunteer guides in this one-hour tour. Bizarre plants, bubbling pools of hot lava and lots of other things you wouldn't expect to see in a botanic garden!

Time: 9am, register at Visitor Centre Time. Register 15 minutes before the tour. Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.

Main Bridge23 Sep (Sat): Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve free guided walk

You'll see the fabulous plants and animals of the mangroves and freshwater wetlands. Besides the abundant bird life, there is also other fascinating wildlife in the Reserve. more

9am: Marine Fish Tour, a 30-minute tour introducing the fascinating fishes of Buloh.

Time: 9am, 10am, 3pm, 4pm, for walk in guests, register at the Visitor Centre. Those coming with large groups are advised to pre-register.
Tour duration: one to one and a half hours. Easy trails, some suitable for young children.
Entry charges: $1 per adult, 50cents per child/student/senior citizen.

24 Sep (Sun): Nature walk at Changi Boardwalk with the Green Volunteers Network

Come for this two and a half hour walk to experience the heritage trees and nature at Changi. Maximum 20 people. Pre-registration is required. When booking, leave your name and mobile number.

Time: 4pm SHARP, meet at Airfield Restaurant (nearest to Changi Village Hotel)

24 Sep (Sun): Free "Painting with Pui San" at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

Pui San welcomes artists of all ages or anyone who wants to learn. His objective is to encourage creativity while enjoying nature at the same time. Bring along your favourite drawing or painting supplies. More about Pui San.

Time: Meet 8.30am at the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve ticketing counter (Visitor Centre). Session usually lasts until about 11am.
Usual entry charges apply: $1 per adult, 50cents per child/student/senior citizen.

24 Sep (Sun): Nature walk at Bukit Brown Cemetery
for NSS members only

Goh Si Guim leads a walk through this quiet, wooded, overgrown 86-hectare cemetery which is a haven for wildlife. With the Catchment forest just across Lornie Road, there is a mix of garden and forest birds. We may even chance on a malkoha or a large White-bellied Wood-pecker in a leisurely morning stroll at one of Singapore’s oldest cemeteries.


Time: 8.30am. meet at the cemetery entrance off the main road (near the junction of Lornie and Sime Roads, opposite Island Country Club).
