27 Sep-3 Oct 2004

2 Oct (Sat): Vertebrates of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
Time: 4-9pm. Open only to NSS members and associates

Known mainly for its mangrove habitat and birdlife, Sungei Buloh is also home to a surprising diversity of other vertebrates. Join Nick Baker to explore the Reserve for mudskippers, archer fish, water snakes, water monitors, geckos and frogs. With luck we may spot some of Sungei Buloh’s larger vertebrates including Smooth Otter, Estuarine Crocodile and the latest residents of the reserve, the Wild Boar.

The walk will be in two sections – a late afternoon walk from 4pm to 6.30pm, and a night walk from 7.30pm to around 9pm. Bring your own dinner. Numbers for this walk are restricted to 12 participants only. As this outing includes a night walk along dark trails and boardwalks, minors must be strictly supervised by an accompanying adult responsible for their safety. NParks indemnity forms will have to be signed by all participants. We are grateful for permission from NParks to hold this outing.
