28 Mar (Sun): 18th Annual Bird Census
Starts at 7.30am at many known birdwatching sites in Singapore.
Open only to NSS members and associates

Members’ invaluable help over the years have enabled us to conduct this census successfully. 17 years of data collected have assisted the society to piece together conservation proposals, assessed the state of our natural habitats and also have an overview of the general population trends of our avian friends. Your help is needed once again to help us continue this census. All we need is your ability to see and count! Help the site leader at a site nearest your home or a site that you may be interested in. Do a good cause for nature this weekend, and enjoy the great outdoors. Register before 23 March.

28 Mar (Sun): An introduction to Singapore plants: Mangroves
at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

Time: 9.30am. Meet at the Visitor Centre
Open only to NSS members and associates

Shawn Lum and the Plant Group of the Nature Society (Singapore) conducts this walk for novice naturalists of all ages. Have you gotten dizzy during a nature walk from listening to all those long botanical names? The Plant Group hopes to conduct quarterly plant walks for those who want to acquaint themselves with the basics of our wonderful flora. Aimed especially at those new to nature and the Nature Society (Singapore), this walk should provide enough of the basics to take part in regular plant walks without feeling lost.
