National Parks Board launches Centre for Urban Greenery

The government is moving on to transform our Garden City into a "City in a Garden". It has opened the Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology.

The Centre aims to be a one-stop training and knowledge hub in urban greenery and ecology and hopes to enhance the professional image and career opportunities in the landscape industry. It is a joint project by the National Parks Board and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency.

The Centre will use the Singapore Workforce Qualifications and other systems to train and certify skills training and facilitate career development in the landscape industry.

The aim is to train more than 20 percent of the landscape workforce by 2009. - CNA/ch
