You got mouse? We got ape

Sylvia Toh Paik Choo

SO King Kong has seen off the likes of Pele (soccer legend), Alain Ducasse (master chef), Vera Wang (celebrity wedding designer) and the grandson of Jacques Cousteau (ocean explorer).

And Mr Frank Gehry (architect supremo) himself. I, for one, am swinging from the beams and beating my chest with a Tarzan call - aw-yi-aw! - that Universal Studios, that great big movies amusement park, will soon be here as part of Genting International-Star Cruises' winning bid for the Sentosa IR.

Las Vegas Sands is building their castle - not on sand, touch wood - in Marina Bay and yesterday, it was announced that Universal Studios is cruising into town.

One ticket and that's entertainment! What fun for the whole family.

HAIL HOLLYWOOD

The parting of the Red Sea from Ten Commandments, the fall of the Bridge on the River Kwai, the Bates motel from Psycho, Jaws and Jurassic Park, and of course the misunderstood gorilla King Kong.

Not that I don't enjoy football (Pele). I love the sport once every four years.

Alain Ducasse, Gordon Ramsay, pan-fried foie gras is ultimately bad for your liver and your purse.

Vera, we're still trying to romance Singapore.

Mr Cousteau, Singaporeans would rather eat the underwater life than watch it swim by.

Mr Gehry, I've bought one of your designs for Tiffany for Christmas.

In the main, my universal three cheers are kiasu ones.

Our Sentosa ape is going to cream that Cantonese-squeaking mouse named Mickey over in Hong Kong.

(By the way, Hong Kong is King Kong's brother.)
