Sir David tackles climate change

TV naturalist Sir David Attenborough is to take part in a season of BBC programmes looking at climate change.

Veteran broadcaster Attenborough spoke about the forthcoming project at the launch of his new series Life in the Undergrowth, which begins next week.

During filming of the new BBC One series, he said he saw the consequences of global warming "again and again".

Details of the season of programmes across BBC television, radio and online are expected to emerge later this week.

Political failure

Earlier this year, Sir David bemoaned what he saw as the failure of the UK's political parties to address the issue of climate change ahead of the May election.

The award-winning conservationist is expected to take part in the project alongside filming for his new series Life in Cold Blood, investigating the behavioural patterns of reptiles and amphibians. The series is believed to be among Sir David's last big projects.

The 79-year-old broadcaster will begin filming shortly after Christmas. The series is expected to take between three and four years to complete.

Life in the Undergrowth, looking at the world of insects, begins on BBC One on Wednesday 23 November.
