Nature activities and events happening this week

18-24 AUG 2003

23 Aug (Sat): Plant Walk at the Eco-Lake of Botanic Gardens
Time: 3.30 pm. Meet at the garage of the School of Horticulture, by the entrance along Cluny Park Road.
Open only to NSS members and associates.

Shawn Lum and the Plant Group switch gears for the next few walks and visit gardens featuring plants of economic importance. Learn about food plants, spice plants, medicinal plants … all of them rather nice to look at too. Join us for this walk to a wonderful garden, which just over ten years ago was a large clearing undergoing redevelopment to become the Bukit Timah Core of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. And don’t forget – the sprawling lawns are perfect for that evening picnic!

More details about the Nature Society (Singapore). To join the NSS, email contact@nss.org.sg or call 6741 2036.

23 Aug (Sat): Visit to Khatib Bongsu
Time: 7.30am at the Dam of the Lower Seletar Reservoir at the end of Yishun Avenue 1

Visit Khatib Bongsu with Ho Hua Chew Meet of the Nature Society (Singapore). This important nature area in the Singapore Green Plan is excluded from the URA Master Plan 2003. We will be taking a look at how the URA Master Plan will drastically affect the site and welcome all support to help save this area of natural beauty. Come enjoy this scenic location before it really goes.
