seen? This
small cowrie has so far only been seen at Cyrene Reef. It is globally considered uncommon.
It was previously known as Cypraea walkeri or Erronea walkeri
walkeri.
Features: 2-2.5cm.
Shell
somewhat pear-shaped, generally pale blue with 3 dark brown bands, centre band much broader, outer bands may be broken up into squares. Underside pale violet with brown spots and short, dark violet 'teeth'. The living animal has a red mantle with white branching finger-like structures (papillae) while the
foot is red with some white dots or blotches. |
