Introduction:
Let some of our fellow Singaporeans in NDP Moblog stir you with their passion in Singapore’s first ever Blog-For-A-Cause contest!

8 bloggers have to date, selected their causes. These ranges from an entrepreneur, a national swimmer to popular radio DJ and a volunteer nature guide are set to get the public thinking with causes they are passionate about.

At stake is a total prize of $12,500 from SingTel, which goes to the Top 3 bloggers whose Blog-For-A-Causes Topic on their blogsites provoke the most number of comments from the public.

Objectives:

The main objectives behind the Blog-For-A-Cause contest are:

The Foundation theme of this year’s NDP is “A Progressive Society”. This theme seeks to highlight our strengths and values such as resilience, adaptability, enterprise, creativity & dare in the new age.

Blog-for-a-Cause aims to proliferate the sense of community consciousness that underline these values. The public participates by posting comments about the respective causes in the blogger’s NDP blogsites. Through this, it is hoped that lively community discussions could be sparked off.

To allow Singaporeans who are passionate about their Causes to have an innovative and hopefully effective channel to champion them and in so doing, make a difference. How it Works:

For Bloggers

Bloggers will put up a Topic in their NDP Blog called Blog-for-a-Cause. Under this Topic, they publish what their cause is about and invite people to post comments on the cause.

They can post frequent updates under this Topic to keep public aware of their thoughts and ideas. They can also join in the Comments generated about their Cause by answering questions or posting more comments. Their own comments, however, do not count as part of the total comments by the public.

The top 3 Bloggers who generate the most no. of comments for his/her Cause will WIN $8,000, $3,000 and $1,500 respectively to carry out his project.

Blog-For-A-Cause will run from 12 July to 30 August.

For Public

You can read about the Bloggers’ Causes under their Blog-For-A-Cause Topic. Should you wish to comment about the Causes, just click on the Comment link.

Before you post comments, you will be asked to register. Registration is Free.

The original rule "Each comment posted will cost S$0.30 and charges will be through your respective Mobile Service Provider." has since been replaced with
"SMS charges apply for each comment posted as per your mobile service subscription plan."

You can post as many comments as you wish. However, the Organizers reserve the right to void any comments that they feel are unsuitable, including empty, defamatory or repetitive comments.

What’s more, the Mobile Users who post the MOST no. of Comments in support of the Causes will stand to win the following fabulous prizes:
1st prize of 1 x MS X-Box, 2 x MS X-Box Games & MS X-Box Starter Kit
2nd prize of $250 Sakae Sushi vouchers and MS keyboard and mouse
