NewsAsia 4 Oct 07 First treetop adventure course opens at Bedok Reservoir SINGAPORE: Singapore's first treetop adventure course, Forest Adventure, boasts hundreds of metres of aerial adventure on the banks of Bedok Reservoir. The 1.5-hectare course, built among the trees at Bedok Reservoir Park, caters to both adults and children. Participants can swing from tree to tree five metres above ground during the course, which comprises of ladders, bridges, swings, nets, trapezes and slides. The Grand Course costs S$25 for adults and S$20 for kids who are 16 and below. The Kid's Course costs S$18. Ticket prices include public liability insurance. Before any climbing takes place, instructors will give visitors a safety course. The S$1-million adventure course, designed by one of the best treetop adventure designers in France, took five weeks to build - with materials from Europe and wood from Malaysia. "The specificity of this course versus other courses in Europe is the fact (that) all the flying foxes are over the water. One of our restrictions was not to cut (down any) trees, so we had to use the natural environment," said Stephanie Besse, managing director of Forest Adventure. The Forest Adventure is open every day, except Monday. - CNA/ac links Bedok Reservoir Park on the NParks website Related articles on recreation in our wild places |
