Pasir Ris Park jazzes up with f&b, water sports outlets

SINGAPORE: Pasir Ris Park is getting jazzed up with the opening of new restaurants, pubs and water sports outlets, much to the benefit of residents and visitors alike.

In the last two weeks, new outlets that target the well-heeled have opened up, making Pasir Ris the next chic hangout for urbanites looking for some sun, sand and sea.

Come July, the public will be able to kayak, jet-ski, canoe, go on banana boat rides, and enjoy some intoxicating cocktails while watching the sun go down.

Adrenaline-pumping sporting events are also in the pipeline.

Raymond Png, Director of Watercross – a water sports outlet, said: "We'll be organising water sports competition on a monthly basis. We are going to start off with a jet-ski competition, three to four months down the road. And we'll be bringing in competitors from all around Asia to come down here to participate."

Safety is also on the minds of the operators, especially since there have been three drownings at Pasir Ris this year. Joyce Goh, Manager, Beach Culture Restaurant & Bar, said:

"We will monitor the customers who come here for drinks and water sports because it's our responsibility to ensure they don't get drunk when they are taking part in water sports."

In the next few months, the National Parks will also be opening an events venue here, known as the Interpretative Centre. The centre will play host to corporate events and outdoor learning classes. - CNA/so
