Safer jogging trail needed

Letter from John Aw Foong Chen

WITH the recent incessant heavy downpour of rain, the jungle trails at MacRitchie Reservoir Nature Reserve have turned treacherous to the safety of joggers due to the very slippery and muddy conditions.

In particular, the stretch of sloppy muddy track running from the entrance to the trail from Lornie Road, and which is parallel to the Sime Golf Course of the Singapore Island Country Club, has become water logged in many spots.

While I would not advocate any alteration to the rugged natural environment, I feel these bad patches should be covered with sand and pebbles for greater safety in order to minimise the occurrence of accidental injuries.

I am sure all joggers who use these trails will appreciate it if the authorities will take remedial action to improve the situation.
