Stop the poaching in Jurong Lake

Last Sunday while walking around Jurong Lake I was horrified to see a man with a huge turtle strapped to his bicycle with a bag over its head.

My remonstrations with him caused nothing but laughter and he wheeled away. Fortunately a passer-by paid the man to release the turtle back into the water.

I cannot help but worry that the payment may encourage more of such acts.

I urge those who regularly walk and jog around the lake to keep an eye on such activity and to make their feelings known to the perpetrators.

The authorities may want to monitor the situation as illegal fishing in the lake is common.
