Ngee Ann Polytechnic adopts 2-km stretch of Sungei Ulu Pandan
By Rita Zahara, Channel NewsAsia

SINGAPORE : Ngee Ann Polytechnic has adopted a 2-kilometre stretch of Sungei Ulu Pandan to encourage its students to care for the environment.

The move will allow the students to learn more about water and the environment, outside the classrooms.

By engaging in PUB's 'Our Waters' programme, it is also hoped that the students would play an active role in caring for Singapore's waterways, reservoirs and parks.

Nurlannita Roslan, Student at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, said: "It is a great move, with this adoption, we will have the ownership to actually take care of the river."

Grace Quah, Director of Building and Environment at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, said: "They would also be doing quality-testing of the water and let PUB know about the water quality." - CNA/de
