Bukit Batok's greenery has been despoiled. Please restore it

I am amused at the way the authorities are deforesting a beautiful bund-like area that runs the length of Bukit Batok Central and Bukit Batok East Avenue 2 just because there was a small landslide caused by the rain.

The authorities cut back the greenery by deploying a group of plant trimmers. Needless to say, these men were no landscape artists or garden architects as they lopped, cut and savaged the beautiful natural undergrowth that was home to birds and small animals.

What's left now are some natural forest and lots of exposed forest floor that need a thorough cleaning and re-turfing. Maybe, there're some leftover dollars from the costly re-turfing of the area mentioned in a previous letter in the Forum.

May the powers which sanction such undertakings think of the poor people of Bukit Batok who want to see something done to give back to them a semblance of what was taken away.
