MPs ask for enhanced safety for visitors to Treetop Walk
By Johnson Choo

MPs have raised concerns over public safety at the Treetop Walk, asking for CCTVs to be installed and a pathway to be provided to pedestrians making their way to the walk on Island Club Road.

Dr Amy Khor, MP, Hong Kah GRC, said: "It was recently reported that the access to the Treetop Walk via Island Country Club is dangerous because there is no walkways for public to access it."

Second National Development Minister Lim Swee Say said as many as 20,000 people visit the Treetop Walk every month. Mr Lim said: "I can assure the members that the speed limit on that SICC road is actually 20 to 25 kph, and it's full of humps. In other words, even if the car drivers, the golfers were to be impatient, even if he or she wants to speed, it's not possible for him to speed because of all the regular humps along the road.

But more importantly, from my personal observation, I would say the speed on the road is kept to 20 to 25, I know so, because from time to time I play golf there."
