A treehouse for all The Singapore Science Centre's Ecogarden was relaunched yesterday with a new addition - a treehouse. As Singapore's largest Ecogarden, the 20,000 sq m area boasts a large collection of flora and fauna, ranging from rubber trees to honeybees. The centrepiece of the relaunch is Singapore's first treehouse that is open to the public. It is built around a Chinese banyan and stands 3m above the ground, allowing visitors to observe certain insects and animals at close range. Dr Chew Tuan Chiong, chief executive of the Singapore Science Centre, said the Ecogarden is 'a rare gem amid the hustle and bustle of Singapore' and described it fondly as 'a living outdoor discovery'. Dr Amy Khor, Mayor of Southwest Community Development Council, officiated at the opening.
